It's just Beatstreets and 1o.a.k. this week. Rarely do personal youtube rants make it on the show, but we had to make an exception for under the underground rapper Loch's youtube video. Does hip hop really suck dick? If so...why?
Also 1o.a.k. introduces BeatStreetS to chamber pop with a track from the new Grizzly Bear album. Jazz is on the ascendancy with UK singer Eska and her live rework of Snoop Dogg's - Beautiful. Last on the menu is an ebony and ivory type collaboration on an oil and water type relationship song.

Here's Loch's commentary.

Here's a Grizzly Bear video.

Our first show broadcasted on WKRadio. Roach pays homage to rapper Dolla who was murdered last month. Tupac, Biggie, Big L, Jam Master Jay, Mac Dre, and other rappers have fallen victim to gun violence. It begs the question -- Do ALL rappers have to worry about getting shot?
Beatstreets breaks down heavy compression and gates as a style in both electronic house and hardcore house tracks, with a remix from Miami Horror. 1o.a.k. brings a remix from production duo Breakbot that sounds like a sucsessful attempt at a Bee Jees groove. A new jazz collective has twitter-ers geeking out. Hear it first on Recipe Radio!

Here's the news story of Dolla's death.

Here's a Miami Horror music video.

Here's a Breakbot Remix.

BeatStreetS is certain that 1o.A.k. sabotaged his clip to describe the styles of NY electro band New Look. Roach says that bay area artist Tha Jacka stays true to the phrase "Do You". Harvard school boys Chester French make us all wonder "why"...but in a good way. Roach thinks "I'm A Gay Fish" could've been on 808's & Heartbreak. Ouuuch!

Sorry you guys, but this weeks episode unfortunately starts in the middle of my part of this potluck of music. Please download New Look EP for free to hear my pick and more.

Roach and 1o.A.k. feel BeatStreetS insults producer/rapper Kon Artist beat making skills. Technically he didn't say the beat was weak but you (the audience) be the judge. BeatStreetS drops some history on Barrett Strong and finds a freaky double meaning in Karma Stewart's lyrics. 1o.A.k. brings the refreshing LA summer jam from U-N-I and Ro Bldv and gives props on sampling New Edition "Cool It Now". We discuss who would win in a battle between MF Doom and Lil Wayne and who should be the judges.
